Albert Einstein’s famous relation E = mc² shows how energy and mass are deeply connected. At its core, the equation tells us that mass isn’t just “stuff”—it’s actually a concentrated form of energy. The same principle underlies nuclear power plants and even the destructive power of nuclear weapons.

Conceptually, E = mc² also hints at a universe where matter and energy can transform into one another under the right circumstances. High-energy particle collisions can create new particles from pure energy, and particles can annihilate into energy when they meet their antiparticles. All of this traces back to Einstein’s insight that mass and energy are simply two expressions of the same underlying physical quantity.
