Oil is discovered in Saudi Arabia.
Oil was first discovered in commercial quantities in Saudi Arabia in 1938. It was discovered by an American geologist named Max Steineke, who was working for the California Arabian Standard Oil Company (CASOC) at the time. The discovery was made in the eastern part of the country, near the Persian Gulf, and the oil field was named Dammam No. 7. The discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia led to the rapid development of the country’s economy and made it one of the world’s leading oil producers. Today, Saudi Arabia is the largest exporter of petroleum in the world.
